Working within the secure estate offers a challenging but extremely rewarding environment for the right candidate.

With this in mind, they are currently seeking a Trainer in Catering at HMP/YOI Thorn Cross to work on an annualised hours contract basis, committing to 690 hours per academic year (approximately 15 hours per week).  The sessions will take place every morning, Monday to Friday and applicants need to be able to commit to attend work on this basis.  This contract offers flexibility in the delivery of these hours, whilst providing you with 12 equal salary payments over the calendar year, holiday entitlement and eligibility to occupational sick pay. 

The successful candidate will have the ability to deliver high quality, learner focused Vocational qualifications up to Level 3.  You will be responsible for the development of lesson plans to ensure curriculum best practice and integrate the delivery of language and numeracy skills in the Catering programme. 

Emphasis is placed on working in partnership with prison and probation colleagues to create a cohesive learning journey that improves employability and contributes to the reduction of re-offending.

To be considered for the post you must be able to demonstrate at least 2 years relevant vocational experience in the catering area and be willing to work towards relevant qualifications as specified in the role profile.
